Social Justice Summer School is a free educational summer day program for children ages 6-12. For five days, children and volunteers will weave together peoples’ histories to help build a ground-up understanding of the world around them through reading, writing, art-making, and play.

Each day will include facilitated workshops on subjects including working class and anti-colonial history, environmental justice and other movements for peace and justice across Turtle Island and beyond. While half of the day will be in the classroom, the rest of the time will include supervised outdoor activities and a shared meal at lunch.

The summer school is led by a skilled team volunteering their time and skills for the program. We are licensed elementary teachers, graduate students from Concordia University, McGill and UQAM and professionals in art education with advanced training in first aid, childcare, and community organizing. We are passionate about creating a positive and enriching environment and cannot wait to meet you and your children!

This is an opportunity for children to explore their neighbourhoods, city, and environment through the lenses of people who shaped it. All together, we will be reimagining school as a place of community collaboration, shared learning, and joy. We hope that Social Justice Summer School can begin to plant the seeds of sovereignty, community building, and self-determination for the children participating and their communities.
